Michael Christopher Landes[1] (born September 18, 1972) is an American actor. He is known for his roles of Jimmy Olsen in the first season of Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Detective Nicholas O'Malley in Special Unit 2, and Officer Thomas Burke in Final Destination 2.

On television, in Love Soup, a British television comedy-drama produced by BBC Television and first screened on BBC One in the autumn of 2005, Michael Landes was the male lead as Gil Raymond in Series 1. He starred with Tamsin Greig as Alice Chenery.

Career

Landes' first major role was as Jimmy Olsen in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman in 1993. Much of the success of the franchise was considered to be overturning the 'square' image of Superman. This was was attributed to the strength of the supporting cast naming Landes.[2]

Landes was not invited to continue the role of Jimmy Olsen after the first season. The creator of the series explained in the DVD commentary that this was because the producers perceived him to resemble lead actor Dean Cain too much. Justin Whalin took over the role for the remaining three seasons of the program.

He is also known for his roles as Detective Nicholas O'Malley in Special Unit 2, Thomas Burke in Final Destination 2, and David Conlon in The Wedding Bells.

He also appeared as Danny in BBC Television's Miranda as the new chef and Miranda's date for one episode.

Personal life

Landes was born in the Bronx, New York City, the son of Patricia, an interior decorator, and Bernard Landes, a marketing consultant.[1] He married actress Wendy Benson on October 21, 2000.[1] Together, the couple have two children, Mimi Landes and Dominic Landes.
