Michael John Whelan

Michael John Whelan (born 1977 in Dublin) is an Irish photographic, video, film and installation artist.

Whelan studied at the DĂșn Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology (1998-2002) and Chelsea College of Art and Design (2003-2004). In 2005 he won the Clifford Chance Sculpture Award.

Recent exhibitions include: Flood, Dublin; Museum Bochum; Grey Noise, Dubai; KunstFestSpiele Herrenhausen, Hannover; Boetzelaer Nispen, London; Noorderlicht, Groningen; Kunstverein Bochum; Kunstverein Dortmund.

He is represented by Grey Noise, Dubai and Boetzelaer Nispen, Amsterdam.

In 2009 Whelan published the book Red Sky Morning, argobooks Berlin. (ISBN 978-3-00-026043-8)
