Michael Hibberd (born 3 January 1990) is an Australian rules footballer currently playing for the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).

Hibberd was drafted by Essendon in the 2010 AFL pre-season draft[1] after his second year in the VFL, where he won the Fothergill-Round Medal as the VFL's most promising young player.[2]

Hibberd made his AFL debut against Gold Coast Suns.[3]

In September 2011 Hibberd pleaded guilty to assault charges in relation to a late night fight that occurred in Frankston in July 2011. Hibberd was drunk when he was involved in a fight that knocked out another man. He was fined $2500 by the court and suspended for the remainder of the season by Essendon.[4] Micheal Struggled to keep a consistent spot in the side during 2011 and 2012 due to injury, but in 2013 Hibberd played 23 games averaging 23 disposals and 6 marks. Playing as a tough defender who could also take a high and strong mark he came 4th in his clubs 2013 best and fairest.
