Michael Della Femina

Michael Thomas Della Femina (born June 18, 1965) Founder of StoreFront, a hybrid marketing and production studio, producer, actor, restaurateur.

Early life

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Della Femina was raised in Manhattan. He graduated from Quintano's High School for Young Professionals and attended The New School while studying acting with William Alderson (The Neighborhood Playhouse) and Larry Moss. Michael is the oldest son of Barbara Rizzi and advertising executive Jerry Della Femina.

Career

Early career

In the 90's Della Femina spent most of his time in front of the camera acting in films, television and commercials while also producing theater and events through his highly acclaimed performance troupe SCRAP. He was coined the foremost member of “The Scrap Pack” by Interview Magazine and Hollywood’s Next Generation by The New York Times alongside the likes of Robert Downey JR and Kiefer Sutherland.

In 1994 Della Femina and filmmaker Jeff Joseph opened up Fountain Films in New York City. Fountain Films served up Lime Rickeys & Egg Creams to the local film community while also producing numerous shorts and the feature film A Dogs Life, which premiered at The Tribeca Film Center.

In 1998 Della Femina and his wife Laurie opened up the boutique The Stork Club on Sullivan street in New York City. Della Femina moved his film company into the back of the shop and aptly named it Storefront Films and began producing videos and early internet content for local businesses.

Star turns in New York indie films such as High Stakes (aka Italian Movie) opposite James Gandolfini and Wasps Nest – which under the helm of cinematographer Mark Ledzian inspired Della Femina’s interest in desktop filmmaking and new technology.

In 2002 Della Femina began working closely with Ledzian and his production company N9 as their marketing director while also producing hundreds of hours of video, web content and commercials for advertising agencies, brands and internet channels.

In 2006 With new media taking center stage and the advertising industry going through radical changes Della Femina began working with Brand Energy guru Matti Leshem and Leshem’s company Protagonist.

Looking for original, relevant ways to reach consumers, in 2007 Leshem and Della Femina opened up the SoHo art gallery RetroNYM as inspiration for Pepsi’s innovation team. The success of RetroNYM kept Della Femina working with Protagonist where in 2008 he started their hospitality division and ran The Thought Leader Campaign in New York and Los Angeles for another Protagonist client IZZE sparkling juice.

StoreFront

In 2010 Della Femina produced the new media show Pipeline and in 2011 began working with Della Femina Advertising under his own alternative marketing and production banner StoreFront Digital with clients i.e. Haamonii Shochu (Share Harmony), Long Island Spirits (LiV Vodka...LiV It Up), The Allegria Hotel (Allegria Noir) and the stress free beverage Zenify.

In 2012 DFH (Della Femina Hospitality) was formed as a division of StoreFront to support their fast growing list of restaurant/bar clients and projects e.g. Bloody Bills BBQ pop up with celebrity chef William Annesley, SLATE pannini & martini lounge with Josh Weinstein and Vietnamese installation indo. with chef Phuong Tran.

StoreFront and Della Femina are currently in production on several multi-platform campaigns and programs including the comedy cable series “Ivy League Crimelords” with Michael Mailer Films and Jon Friedman Productions - ILCL is described as a cross between Good Fellas and Curb Your Enthusiasm and features guest appearances by Oscar nominated director James Toback, maverick filmmaker Abel Ferrara, and nightlife impresario Rocco Ancarola.

In 2014 StoreFront Digital and Della Femina Advertising will be releasing their mobile application for consumers - AdAgency.

StoreFront Digital operates offices at Della Femina Advertising in New York City and Los Angeles.
