Anthony J. DeSclafani (born April 18, 1990) is an American professional baseball player for the Miami Marlins organization.

DeSclafani attended Colts Neck High Schoolin Colts Neck, New Jersey.[2][3] He then enrolled at the University of Florida, where he played college baseball for the Florida Gators.

The Toronto Blue Jays selected DeSclafani in the sixth round of the 2011 MLB Draft. After the 2012 season, the Blue Jays traded DeSclafani, Adeiny Hechavarria, Henderson Álvarez, Yunel Escobar, Jeff Mathis, and Jake Marisnick to the Miami Marlins, receiving Mark Buehrle, Josh Johnson, José Reyes, John Buck, and Emilio Bonifacio in exchange.[4] The Marlins named him their minor league pitcher of the year in 2013.[5]

Brent A. Keys (born July 14, 1990) is an American professional baseball outfielder in the Miami Marlins organization.

As a freshman in high school in 2006, Keys won his age groups Pepsi Punt, Pass, and Kick Challenge and appeared on national television at halftime of the AFC Championship Game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Indianapolis Colts at the RCA Dome.[6]

Keys was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 17th round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft out of Simi Valley High School in Simi Valley, California.[7]

In 2012, Keys won the South Atlantic League batting title after hitting .335.[8] Keys was the Marlins 2013 Minor League Player of the Year after winning the Florida State League batting title with a .346 batting average.[9] He was added to the Marlins 40-man roster on November 20, 2013.[1]

Scott Thomas McGough (born October 31, 1989, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Miami Marlins organization. He attended Plum High School in Plum, Pennsylvania and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 46th round of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft, but did not sign. Instead, he chose to attend the University of Oregon, where he played for the baseball team. In the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft, he was drafted in the fifth round by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

McGough began his professional career in 2011 with the Rookie–level Ogden Raptors. He later earned a call-up to the Single-A Great Lakes Loons. In 2012, he started off the season with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, but on July 25, he and Nathan Eovaldi were traded to the Marlins for Hanley Ramírez and Randy Choate.[10]

Justin B. Nicolino (born November 22, 1991) is a minor league baseball pitcher in the Miami Marlins organization.

Nicolino attended University High School in Orlando, Florida. The Toronto Blue Jays drafted Nicolino in the second round of the 2010 MLB Draft with the 80th overall selection.[11][12] On November 19, 2012, Nicolino was traded to the Miami Marlins along with Adeiny Hechavarria, Henderson Álvarez, Yunel Escobar, Jeff Mathis, Anthony DeSclafani and Jake Marisnick, in exchange for Mark Buehrle, Josh Johnson, José Reyes, John Buck, and Emilio Bonifacio.[4] On January 29, 2013, Nicolino was named number 72 on MLB's Top 100 Prospects list.[13]

Ángel Sánchez

Ángel Luis Sánchez (born November 28, 1989) is a professional baseball pitcher in the Miami Marlins organization.

He signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers as an amateur free agent in 2010 and played with the Great Lakes Loons in the Midwest League in 2011, where he was 8-4 in 20 games (16 starts) with a 2.82 ERA. He was promoted to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes in 2012 where he struggled a bit, going 6-12 with a 6.58 ERA in 27 games (23 starts).

Sánchez returned to Great Lakes to start 2013 where he was 2-7 with a 4.88 ERA in 14 starts before he was returned to Rancho Cucamonga.

On July 6, 2013 he was traded to the Miami Marlins (along with Josh Wall and Steve Ames) for Ricky Nolasco. He was added to the Marlins 40-man roster on November 20, 2013.[1]


Brady Shoemaker

Brady Shoemaker (born May 10, 1987 in Brazil, Indiana) is a minor league baseball outfielder in the Miami Marlins organization. He is 6'0" and weighs 200 lbs.

Shoemaker was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 19th round of the 2009 MLB Draft, after attending Indiana State University. Shoemaker started his baseball career in 2009 at the Rookie level with the Bristol White Sox and Great Falls Voyagers then made a jump all the way to Triple-A Charlotte Knights for 8 games in 2009. In 2009 combined, Shoemaker hit .321 in 234 at-bats with 10 HRs, 22 2Bs and 36 RBI. In 2010, Shoemaker played the whole season at Class A Kannapolis Intimidators. In 2010, Shoemaker hit .293 in 338 at-bats with 12 HRs, 23 2Bs and 55 RBI. In 2011, Shoemaker started the season with Kannapolis but was later promoted to Class A-Advanced Winston-Salem Dash. In 2011 combined, Shoemaker hit .312 in 439 at-bats with 11 HRs, 31 2Bs and 77 RBI. In 2012, Shoemaker started the season at Winston-Salem but was promoted to Double-A Birmingham Barons. Shoemaker finished the 2012 season with combined .300 average, 35 2Bs, 17 HRs and 85 RBI in 134 games. Shoemaker missed the entire 2013 season due to injury.

On December 12, 2013, he was selected by the Miami Marlins in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 Draft.


Alfredo Silverio

Alfredo Silverio (born May 6, 1987) is an outfielder who is with the Miami Marlins organization.

Silverio was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2007 after playing for their team in the Dominican Summer League. He joined the Gulf Coast Dodgers for 2007, then played with the Great Lakes Loons (2008–2009) and Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino in 2010 before a late-season assignment to the Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts. In 2011, with the Lookouts, he hit .306 with 16 home runs and 85 RBIs. He was selected to the Southern League postseason all-star team and represented the Dodgers at the 2011 All-Star Futures Game.[14]

Silverio was added to the Dodgers' 40-man roster on Nov 2, 2011.[15] He was subsequently involved in a serious offseason car accident in the Dominican Republic and suffered injuries to his back, shoulder, elbow and neck as well as concussion symptoms and was not able to participate at all in Spring Training.[16] On May 9, 2012, he underwent Tommy John Surgery as a result of injuries he suffered in the car accident, the surgery would cause him to miss the entire 2012 season.[17] On Nov 1, 2012, he was outrighted to Triple-A and removed from the 40-man roster.

The Miami Marlins selected Silverio from the Dodgers on December 6, 2012 in the Rule 5 draft.

During June 2013, Silverio underwent Tommy John surgery for the 2nd time of his career which prevented him from playing for the rest of the 2013 season.


Colby Suggs

Logan Colby Suggs (born October 25, 1991 is an American professional baseball player. A pitcher, Suggs plays in Minor League Baseball for the Miami Marlins organization. Prior to playing professionally, Suggs attended the University of Arkansas, where he played college baseball for the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Suggs attended Sulphur Springs High School in Sulphur Springs, Texas, and played for the school's baseball and American football teams. In football, he was a member of the school's state championship team. He was not selected in the Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft after graduating from high school, so he enrolled at the University of Arkansas to play college baseball for the Arkansas Razorbacks baseball team.[18] Suggs pitched in relief for the Razorbacks.[19] In 2013, Suggs recorded 13 saves, a Razorbacks record.[20]

The Miami Marlins selected Suggs in the second round, with the 73rd overall selection, of the 2013 MLB Draft.[18]

Nick Wittgren

Nicholas James Wittgren (born May 29, 1991) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Miami Marlins organization.

Wittgren was drafted by the Miami Marlins in the ninth round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft out of Purdue University.[21]

During his first professional season he had a 1.17 earned run average, 13 saves and 47 strikeouts over 30 23 innings pitched while playing for the Jamestown Jammers and Greensboro Grasshoppers. He started the 2013 season with the Jupiter Hammerheads and was promoted to the Jacksonville Suns.[22] For the season he posted a 0.77 ERA with 26 saves and 63 strikeouts over 58 13. At the end of the season he was named the Minor League Relief Pitcher of the Year by the staff of MiLB.com.[23][24]
