Mexibús

Mexibús is a bus rapid transit (BRT) system in the parts of Greater Mexico City that are located in the State of Mexico, which surrounds the Mexican Federal District, i.e. Mexico City proper, on three sides.

It is operated by Transmasivo S.A. (line I) and Red de Transporte de Oriente S.A. de C.V. (line III).[1] There are two lines (I and III) with a total length of 31 kilometres (19 mi) and 53 stations located in Ecatepec, Tecámac, Nezahualcóyotl, Chimalhuacán, all in the State of Mexico, as well as in Mexico City proper in the Venustiano Carranza borough. There is also a line II planned.

Terminal at Ojo de Agua

Mexibús I: Ciudad Azteca - Ojo de Agua

Route I serves the northeastern suburbs, operating from Ciudad Azteca (terminus of Line B of the Mexico City metro), to Ojo de Agua, the concession is in hands of Transmasivo S.A. which operates both regular and express routes. It is 16 km long with 24 stations, and approximately 130,000 users per day.[2]

There are three variations of this route:[3]

  • TR-1 Ojo de Agua-Ciudad Azteca regular service
  • TR-3 Ojo de Agua-Ciudad Azteca express
  • TR-4 Central de Abastos-Ciudad Azteca express

63 articulated Volvo 7300 BRT buses ply the route painted white with red, light green and dark green trim.[4] It began free operations in October 2010.[5]

Stations: Ciudad Azteca, Quinto Sol, Josefa Ortiz, Indutrial, UNITEC, Torres, Zodiaco, Adolfo López Mateos, Vocacional 3, Valle de Ecatepec, Las Américas, Primero de mayo, Hospital, Aquiles Serdán, Jardines de Morelos, Palomas, 19 de septiembre, Central de Abastos, Las Torres, Hidalgo, Cuauhtémoc Sur, Cuauhtémoc Norte, Esmeralda and Ojo de Agua[6]

Mexibús II: Lechería - Las Américas

Line II will be 21.3 km long running from Fraccionamiento Las Américas in Ecatepec to Lechería, in Tultitlán, running along Avenida Primero de Mayo, Avenida Revolución and Avenida José López Portillo; It will have 42 stations and 92 buses. Urbanbus is the concessionnaire.

This line will connect the two largest commercial centers of the far north metropolitan area: Perinorte and Plaza Las Américas.[7] As of mid-2013 it was expected that the service would be operational in 2014.[8]

Mexibus Route 3 Chimalhuacán-Pantitlán

Mexibús III: Chimalhuacán - Pantitlán

Mexibús line III was the second line in service. It runs 14.5 kilometers from Chimalhuacán to Pantitlán (transfer for multiple lines of the Mexico City Metro) in Mexico City proper. The concessionnaire is Red de Transporte de Oriente S.A. de C.V.[1] There are 25 stations, 2 terminals, and 85 buses.The line began construction at the end of 2010 [9][10] and began operations 30 April 2013.

There are three service variations provided on the line:

  • OR Pantitlan-Chimalhuacán regular (27 stops)
  • EX-1 Pantitlan-Chimalhuacán express (14 stops)
  • EX-2 Pantitlan-Chimalhuacán express (8 stops)

The buses are white with red, light and dark green trim. Stations: Pantitlán, El Barquito, Maravillas, Vicente Riva Palacio, Virgencitas, Nezahualcóyotl, Lago de Chapala, Adolfo López Mateos, Palacio Municipal, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, El Castillito, General Vicente Villada, Rayito de Sol, Las Mañanitas, Rancho Grande, Bordo de Xochiaca, Las Torres, Guerrero Chimalli, Las Flores, Canteros, La Presa, Embarcadero, Santa Elena, Ignacio Manuel Altamirano, San Pablo, Los Patos, Refugio, Acuitlapilco y Chimalhuacán.[11][12]

Fare

The fare is 6 Mexican pesos (MXN) [13] paid via rechargable cards which cost 15 pesos and include 5 pesos in transit credit.[14][15]

Service operates seven days a week from 4:30 A.M. to 12:30 A.M.
