Mersin Olympic Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium in Mersin, Turkey currently under construction. Once completed in 2013, it will be used mostly for football matches and will host Mersin İdmanyurdu SK of the Süper Lig. It will also host the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2013 Mediterranean Games.[2] The stadium will hold 25,534[3] spectators.[4] It will replace Tevfik Sırrı Gür Stadium as the home of Mersin İdmanyurdu SK. It is also a common known fact that it was built on a cemetery from 1748.[citation needed]
