Merlynston is a railway station in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is located on the Upfield railway line in the suburb of Coburg North.

It is 13.7 km from Flinders Street Station, and is located in the overlap between Myki ticketing Zone 1 & Zone 2.

Facilities

The station is unstaffed, except for a period of around two hours in the morning peak on weekdays. It consists of an island platform which patrons must use a pedestrian level crossing to get to. There is a small pebblemix station building at the Upfield end of the platforms, and a small semi-enclosed waiting room is located at its southern end. A Myki card vending machine is located adjacent to the disused booking window at the platform entrance and there is a camera-monitored safety zone on each platform. A building to house Protective Services Officers was added at the south end during December 2013.

The station car park accommodates over 200 vehicles and there are connecting bus services, so the station is reasonably well patronised. It is located very close to Sydney Road, from which Route 530 and 531 buses depart. The 534 bus (to Glenroy station on the Craigieburn line) departs from the east of the station, alternately from Lorenson Avenue and Merlyn Street.

The station is located in a primarily residential area with a small shopping strip to the west, and one to the east in Sydney Road. Passengers often drive to Merlynston from further down the line to take advantage of the cheaper Zone 1 Myki fares.

A level crossing formerly located at Shorts Road, south of Merlynston, was closed in the late 1990s, and a dead-end street was created on either side of the railway line. Until the track was duplicated to Gowrie in 1998, the railway line north of the station had only a single track, apart from the island platform at Gowrie, which had two platforms. However one platform was a dead-end one, meaning trains couldn't cross at Gowrie, and had to cross at Merlynston.
