The Mercedes Cup is an ATP World Tour 250 series tennis tournament on the ATP Tour. Held since 1916 in Stuttgart, Germany, the Mercedes Cup is played on clay courts. Between 1970 and 1989 this was a Grand Prix tennis circuit event. In 2015 the tournament will transfer from clay to grass courts. Subsequently the tournament will be staged in the week after the French Open.[1]
Thomas Muster of Austria won the title twice in consecutive years (1995 and 1996).
This tournament is famous for awarding the title winner with a Mercedes car, in addition to the prize money.
