Meng Jia (Chinese: ; pinyin: Mèng Jia), commonly known as Jia, is a Chinese singer, rapper, actress, and model. She is the main rapper and lead dancer of the South Korean girl group miss A, which debuted under JYP Entertainment in 2010. Jia is considered one of the four best-known female celebrities of Chinese origin active in the South Korean entertainment scene, along with fellow Miss A member Fei, f(x)'s leader Victoria Song and fashion model Wei Sun.[1]

Biography

Meng Jia is currently attending Seoul Institute of the Arts (SeoulArts), formally known as Seoul Art College, alongside miss A's Fei and wonder girl's Lim.[2] Jia's school in Beijing held auditions with JYP Entertainment and she was selected to be on a girl group in 2007 after she had accidentally stumbled into the audition room where she performed a dance and a rap sequence. Jia, along with fellow Miss A member Fei, appeared in 2PM's "My Color" music video. While still in training, the group flew to China where they appeared in numerous variety shows performing dance routines and songs to a Chinese audience. As the group had no official name, they were widely known to fans unofficially as JYP Sisters or simply as "Sisters (시스터즈)" and was dubbed by JYP as the "Chinese Wonder Girls". The girls began their first official promotional activities in China as a group by signing up with Samsung China and released a commercial song called "Love Again" for the Samsung Beat Festival.

Solo Activities

In 2011, she made an appearance in M&D's music video "Close Your Mouth". She also made several cameo appearances in Dream High and Dream High 2.

During miss A's long hiatus after their promotions for their single "I Don't Need a Man" in 2012, Jia attended numerous fashion shows and appeared in many fashion magazines. She also accompanied singer Ivy during her promotions for "I Dance" as the rapper for several stages and participated in Let's Go Dream Team 2's special in Vietnam. Jia will be also making her acting debut with One and A Half Summer in China with 2PM's Nichkhun when it airs in the summer of 2014
