Meghalaya Police

The Meghalaya Police is the law enforcement agency for the state of Meghalaya in India. It was earlier part of the Assam Police till 1972 when the separate State of Meghalaya was created.

The Meghalaya Police is headed by Director General of Police (DGP) presently Shri P.J.P. Hanaman, IPS (RR:1979)
The Total Sanctioned Strength of Meghalaya Police is 12,911 while actual strength is 10,956 persons serving in various positions .The Head Quarter of Meghalaya Police is located at the Secretariat Hill, Shillong.
