Medal of Honor: Allied Assault (abbreviated MoH:AA) is a 2002 first-person shooter video game developed by 2015, Inc. and created by Steven Spielberg.[1] It was published by EA Games and officially released for Microsoft Windows on January 22, 2002 in North America and on February 15, 2002 in Europe. Aspyr published the Mac OS X version released in August 2002.

Allied Assault is the third game in the Medal of Honor series. It is the first game in the series for Microsoft Windows, and the only game in the series with expansion packs.

The game uses the Quake III Arena engine, with modifications from Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K.², to simulate infantry combat in the European and North African Theaters during World War II.

Critically acclaimed, Medal of Honor: Allied Assault received an aggregated score of 91% from both GameRankings and Metacritic.

Gameplay

Singleplayer

In the game the player takes on the role of Lt. Mike Powell of the United States Army Rangers who works for the OSS. Single player missions include assaulting German bases in Algiers and Norway, storming Omaha Beach on D-Day, and rescuing comrades behind enemy lines in occupied France. The game's levels are often compared to Steven Spielberg's 1998 film Saving Private Ryan; many of the levels are direct quotations of the scenery (or even complete sequences as in the Omaha Beach mission) in the film. This level was re-created in Medal of Honor: Frontline for consoles.

Multiplayer

Once you select the server with the game type you like you will start in spectator mode and then you can choose between joining the allies or the axis(1) then you can select the set of weapon(2) you want. points are counted in the following method: 1 kill = 1 point. 1 death = 1 death point. 1 suicide = -1 point. Some Types of servers are round based in this cause: 1 round = 1 point. Game modes: Multiplayer contains four modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Round Based, and "Objective" mode. Other popular game modes of the game have been created by fans, such as "Freeze Tag", "Capture the Flag", "Basebuilder" and "Countdown"

In Deathmatch Mode or Free For All every player has the only objective is to kill everyone he/she in his way, the winner is the player with the most points.

  • team Deathmatch Mode:

after choosing your team your target in this mode is to kill the other team, the winner team is the team with the most points.

some servers uses the Last Man Standing FFA or the Last Man Standing Team the first type is just like the normal Deathmatch but It's round based and to win the round you will have to survive to the last, the one with the most rounds wins, the second type is the same as the Team Deathmatch mode, every team will win a round when the last man survived is from there team, the winner team is the team with the most number of points.

It's a team based mode where every team have to complete a mission in order to win a round, the team with the most number of rounds won is the winner.

  • Freeze Tag (Round Based) Mode:

this mode is team based mode it is just like the Team Deathmatch Mode but the winner is the one with the most number of wining rounds, to win a round you must freeze (kill) all the other team players, if a player is frozen his team partner can unfreeze him (melt him) by standing on him or pointing a melting point on him (by pressing the use key).

  • Capture the Flag (Round Based):

In this mode, two teams have the objective to capture the other team's flag and bring it back to their own base. For each captured and returned flag the achieving team earns a score. After a predefined time, the team with the highest score wins.

  • BaseBuilder Mode:

this mode is based on the Team Deathmatch mode but in this mode before start fighting you can build a base by using a preset items (items vary from sever to another) the winner team is the team with the most number of points.

this mode is team Deathmatch based mode, points does not matter in this mode your is to hold an important item for a mount of time, when a team hold that item the other team life meter starts to fall, the team which manages to zero the others team life meter is the winner.

Notes: 1- after selecting the team you will have to select a skin that the other players can see you with (some players download extra skins from the internet). 2- some skins changes some weapons sits. 3- few servers now hosts the Last Man Standing Mode it's almost dead. 4- the most used item in the countdown mode is the radio countdown.

Plot

Lt. Mike Powell, the protagonist, is a skilled U.S. Army Ranger and later an agent of the Office of Strategic Services. The game starts with Powell and a squad of 4 other Rangers in Algiers Morocco, fighting on the North African front. The Ranger squad sneaks into the city by truck, where they break in and successfully defeat the guards after a short shootout. A successful rifle shot fells one Ranger, but the others continue on. All seems to be going as planned, but, suddenly German machine guns open up from the rooftops, and it is revealed that the mission is an ambush. The Rangers open fire, and Powell is tasked with storming a house with a fellow ranger. The 2 Rangers who do not storm the house fall from machine gun fire. After killing the riflemen inside, the 2 surviving Rangers still have to get into the inner city, and the Ranger tells Powell that he'll be covered if he moves up. Powell gets out of the building and charges forward, only to hear the covering Ranger be sniped and find himself the last one of the squad. Powell escapes, where he resumes radio contact with U.S. intelligence.

Powell then continues into a North African Axis base, where he is tasked with freeing an S.A.S. major by the name of Grillo who has been captured before the major is forced to give up his knowledge. After successfully breaking out, the major and Lieutenant Powell are relocated to Norway. In the city of Trondhelm, a Kriegsmarine U-Boat is being outfitted with radar detection software. Grillo makes it into the base first, but is killed by German soldiers while opening the gate into the base for Powell. Powell fights his way into the base before stealing a German uniform and sneaking into the loading dock. Somehow unnoticed, despite the gunfire, he gets inside the submarine and kills all the German officers inside. He then places charges inside the submarine, gets out, and, under fire from the entire German base he escapes outside.
