Mbarara-Kikagati Road

Mbarara-Kikagati Road is a road in southwestern Uganda, connecting the city of Mbarara in Mbarara District and the town of Kikagati in Isingiro District, at the border between Uganda and Tanzania. The road continues into Tanzania as Highway B182

Location

The Mbarara-Kikagati Road, starts at Mbarara and then passes through Gayaza, Isingiro, Kibwera and ends in Kikagati, a distance of approximately 62 kilometres (39 mi).[1] The coordinates of the road near Isingiro in Isingiro District are:00 51 36S, 30 46 12E (Longitude:-0.8600; Latitude:30.7700).

Overview

The road, previously made of unsealed gravel, has been earmarked for conversion to a sealed bitumen surface. Work on tarmacking the road will begin in June 2010.[2] The World Bank is funding the construction costs of upgrading the road from gravel to bitumen.
