Mauritians (singular Mauritian; French: Mauricien) are citizens, natives and people whose ancestors lived in Mauritius. Mauritius is a multiethnic society, which means that it is home to people of many different ethnic backgrounds, Mauritians do not equate their nationality with ethnicity, but with citizenship.
