Maureen Jennings

Maureen Jennings (born 1939) is a Canadian writer. She was born on Eastfield Road in Birmingham, England; she spent her formative years there until emigrating to Canada at the age of seventeen with her mother.[citation needed] She is best known as the author of the Detective Murdoch series, which has been turned into a television series, Murdoch Mysteries.[1]
Detective Murdoch series
Jennings says that stories of John Wilson Murray, a Victorian era detective who was appointed as Ontario's first government detective in 1875, "was an important inspiration" for her, and led to the development of the character William Murdoch.[2]
