Mat Maitland
Mat Maitland (born 1971[1]) is an English art director and visual artist who lives in London.
Career
Born in St Albans, Hertfordshire, he studied design in his home town and then at Croydon College. He started his career at WEA (Warner Bros. Records) in the early 1990s as a designer. In the mid-1990s he joined Big Active where he has acted as designer and art director on numerous music campaigns such as Basement Jaxx,[2] Goldfrapp, Simian (for which he received 2 Music Week CADS awards), Snow Patrol and Beck. He is also an image maker producing collage works, which absorb the worlds of fashion, pop culture and art. Some of this work can also be seen on numerous book covers and record sleeves such as Goldfrapp, Beck and Pleasure, a Norwegian band, for whom he is also a featured vocalist and songwriter. Maitland's design work on the White Lies album To Lose My Life... earned him the number seven spot on the Art Vinyl Top 20 Albums of the Year.[3]
