Masti (English translation: Mischief) is a 2004 Bollywood comedy film directed by Indra Kumar, and starring Ajay Devgan, Vivek Oberoi, Amrita Rao, Aftab Shivdasani, Ritesh Deshmukh, Lara Dutta, Tara Sharma and Genelia D'Souza.[2] The film released on 9 April 2004, and received positive response from critics, and also managed to do well at the box office, turning out to be a moderate success at the box office. Masti was also amongst the low number of Bollywood adult comedy movies at the time of its release.
Synopsis
The film revolves around three bachelors, Meet (Vivek Oberoi), Prem (Aftab Shivdasani) and Amar (Ritesh Deshmukh). Their lives are good until they get married and their lives turn to hell. Meet marries Anchal (Amrita Rao) who is obsessively possessive about her husband, Prem marries Geeta (Tara Sharma) who is overly religious and thus their sex life suffers, and Amar marries Bindiya (Genelia D'Souza) who is dominating and lives with her mother (Archana Puran Singh). The friends get together one night and try to think of a way to get away from their wives for some time & relive their fun bachelor days. The men set their sights on other women but eventually realize they have all been seeing the same girl, Monica (Lara Dutta). She blackmails them about revealing their affair to their wives for Rs.10 lakhs.
After a roller coaster filled with nonstop laughs and thrilled mayhem, the trio arrive at Monica's car with all the money, only to find her dead. In order to not be accused, they try to hide her body, interrupted by police officer Sikander (Ajay Devgan) who begins to suspect, and then starts following, them. What comes next, is a hilarious mystery on who Monica's killer is, and how she died. Or will the three idiots be arrested for her murder yet being innocent?

It did very well at the box office grossing around 26.75 crore (US$4.3 million) in India,and was declared a Semi Hit at the box-office.[3]

Sequel
After Masti's release in 2004, the director Indra Kumar announced a sequel. However, for more than eight years, the sequel to Masti was under thought and was still being written. In February 2012, it was announced that writers Milap Zaveri & Tushar Hiranandani were writing the script and it was under the title of Grand Masti, and it will be in the genre of adult comedy. The sequel will bring back the trio th September 2013. Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi and Aftab Shivdasani, along with female leads Sonalee Kulkarni, Manjari Fadnis, Karishma Tanna amongst others (names on the article Grand Masti in cast section). Earlier reported to start in August 2012, the filming reportedly began on 9 September 2012 apparently. The film released on 13 September 2013.
