Maslandapur (also spelt as Machlandapur) is a census town under Habra police station of Barasat sadar subdivision[1] in North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is 54 km from Sealdah Station on the Sealdah-Bangaon branch line of Eastern Railway.[2] It is part of the Kolkata Suburban Railway system.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[3] Maslandapur had a population of 9507. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Maslandapur has an average literacy rate of 78%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 84%, and female literacy is 72%. In Maslandapur, 9% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Transport

It is 54 km from Sealdah Station on the Sealdah-Bangaon branch line. It also well connected by road to Habra, Barasat, Bongaon, Tentulia and Basirhat.

Schools

Maslandapur Bhudeb Smriti Balika Vidyalaya is a higher secondary girls school in Maslandapur. Dhakshin Chatra High School is a Higher Secondary School Boys school in Maslandapur.

Banks

State Bank of India and UCO Bank have there branches here. Few ATMs are also present here.

Healthcare

North 24 Parganas district has been identified as one of the areas where ground water is affected by arsenic contamination.[4]
