Mashina (Hebrew: משינה) is the debut album by the Israeli rock band, Mashina. the album was released by CBS Records and produced by Reuven Shapira.
Background
The base of the album's songs was created by the lead singer Yuval Banai and the lead guitarist Shlomi Bracha at their duty. the wrote and recorded few songs later who appeared on the album. songs that appeared later were "Rakevet Layla" (Night Train), "Kareem Abdul Zamar" (Kareem Abdul Singer), "Atid Matok" (Sweet Future) and "Aoftikai Medoplam" (Certified Optician). after the duty in 1983, Banai and Bracha began to perform with a few bands. at the end, the band were: Banai, Bracha, Micheal Benson and Iggy Dayan. the first two songs that the band recorded for the album, were "Rakevet Layla" and "Aoftikai Medoplam". the labels didn't agree to sign the band. and so, the band recorded "Aoftikai Medoplam" in professional on DB studios. the producer was Reuven Shapira that Benson met him when he played in albums of artist like: Rita, Rami Kleinstein and Danni Bassan. in that time, the band recorded more three songs "Rakevet Layla", "Ki Lo Ba La" (Because She Don't Want) and "Balada le Sohen Kaful" (Ballad for a double agent). in June 1985 the song "Aoftikai Medoplam" was heard in the radio. the song sucseed. and after that the label NMC, was persuaded to sign the band. after that the songs "Ki Lo Ba La" and "Rakevet Layla" were heard at the radio stations, the album was released in November 1985. the album included many hits like: "Aoftikai Medoplam", "Atid Matok", "Anna", "Balada le Sohen Kaful" and the most successful song, "Rakevet Layla" that was written by Banai and his cousin Ehud Banai. most of the songs were written and composed by Shlumi Bracha. but in a few songs, the band members wrote and composed too. the album cover was photographed by Berry Fridlender who was a friend of Banai. Berry was pictured circus pictures. one of the pictures was included four circus Monkies. the cover was designed by Emi Robinger. the album sold 650,000 copies. the album won for a 2X Platinum.
