Maryland Route 781 (MD 781) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. Known as Delancy Road, the state highway runs 1.01 miles (1.63 km) from U.S. Route 40 (US 40) north to MD 281 within Elkton close to the Delaware state line. MD 781 was designated in 1987.
Route description
MD 781 begins at an intersection with US 40 (Pulaski Highway) 0.23 miles (0.37 km) west of the Delaware state line. MD 781 heads north past residential subdivisions, paralleling the state line. The state highway reaches its northern terminus at MD 281 (Red Hill Road) adjacent to Grays Hill on the west.[1][2]
History
Delancy Road long predates being a part of the state highway system, having existed since at least 1898.[3] The highway was designated MD 781 in 1987.[4]
