Marvin Oduber; born March 12, 1976 is a Dutch entrepreneur and fashion designer that started as an interior designer based in Amsterdam. The sculptured shapes and strong lines of the 'Odubers' [1] style reflect a clear architectural influence.
Personal life
Marvin Oduber was born and raised in Enschede, Holland and is of Dutch Antilles descent. His father was born in Aruba, and came to the Netherlands in the late 1960s. His mother worked as a manager in a nursing home, while his father is an engineer at AkzoNobel and a lifetime freelance furniture designer. Oduber has one older sister.
In 2003 he married Monika de Ruijter, born July 9, 1980. She studied at the University of Amsterdam, and has a degree in Tax Law. The Odubers reside between Amsterdam, Netherlands, Miami Beach and Florence, Italy.
Career
In 1996 Oduber started modeling in Aruba, and the next year he was signed by renowned Dutch modeling agency Touche Models [2] and appeared the following year on the cover of the agencies model book. He has done campaigns such as Van Gils and Bijenkorf.[3] All though Oduber studied business economics and founded an award winning insurance company [4] in the Netherlands. Oduber following his passion got involved with real estate development and interior designer. He co-founded the Amsterdam construction company 'Custom Construction'.[5] and the brand 'Persistent',[6] designing and manufacturing dive gear together with 21 time record breaking free diving champion Francisco Ferreras. In recent years the couple started exclusively focussing on luxury goods. The Odubers work as a team in designing handbags, made of exclusive materials such as alligator, python. Odubers’ collection of quintessentially feminine handbags are designed with the confident and courageous woman in mind. Oduber has strong relationships with Italian manufacturers that produced luxury goods for some of the world’s most respected brands, like Bulgari, Tiffany, Prada and Ralph Lauren amongst others.
