Martin Aldridge was elected to the Western Australian Legislative Council as a Nationals member for Agricultural region at the 2013 state election. Although scheduled to take his seat on 22 May 2013, he was elected in a recount on 5 April to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mia Davies.

Prior to his election, Aldridge held various positions within the National Party, including state director, ministerial policy adviser, and chief of staff to federal MP Tony Crook.[1]
