Mark Pirro is a Dallas-based musician,[1] audio engineer[2] and record producer. He is the bass player and an original member of the symphonic rock ensemble The Polyphonic Spree[3] as well as a former founding member of the alternative rock band Tripping Daisy.

Pirro is also the owner of Placid Audio[4] and the inventor of the Copperphone[5] - a professional hand made 'effect' microphone. Placid Audio, founded in 2003 is his company which facilitates small batch production of the Copperphone[6] as well as other audio microphones.

Pirro uses and endorses instruments, software and effects from the following companies: Musicvox, Izotope, FEA Labs, Waterstone Guitars.[7]
