Mark Andrew Beck (born 2 February 1994) is an English-born Scottish footballer who plays as a forward for Falkirk in the Scottish Championship on loan from League One side Carlisle United. Beck represents Scotland at U-21 level due to his grandfather's Scottish heritage making him eligible to play.

Career

Beck started his career in the youth team of Carlisle United and signed a two-year apprenticeship in the summer of 2010.

In March 2012, he joined Conference North side Workington on a one-month loan for work experience.[3] He made his debut on 25 March in a 1–0 win over Harrogate Town, coming on as a substitute for Gareth Arnison.[4] He scored the equalising goal for the Reds in a 1–1 draw with Droylsden.[5]

Beck made his professional debut for Carlisle on 14 April, in a 1–0 defeat to Charlton Athletic, coming on as a substitute for Tom Taiwo.[6] On 19 April 2012, Beck was offered a one-year professional contract.[7] He scored his first goal for the club on 28 August 2012 in a 2–1 win against Ipswich Town in the League Cup.[8]

On 30 January 2014, Beck penned a half-season loan to Scottish Championship high-flyers Falkirk to gain some first-team experience. He teamed up with former strike-partner Rory Loy.[9]

International career

On 19 January 2012. Mark received a call up to the Scotland Under 19's squad.[10] On the same day he made his international debut and scored his first international goal in a friendly game against Sweden Under 19.[11]

Personal life

Mark Beck was born in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, England, and attended Farringdon Community Sports College until the age of 16, where he then became part of the Carlisle youth team. The youngster has a passion for football from an early age, playing for several local teams. His dad is his main supporter, who Beck has mentioned before in interviews, and he is said to be in a relationship with Holly Dugan, also Sunderland-born.

Beck is a keen gardener and regularly partakes in landscape gardening in his spare time. He also has an interest in interior designs and fabrics.
