Mario Pašalić (born 9 February 1995) also known as Big Mario is a Croatian footballer who plays as a midfielder for Hajduk Split in the Prva HNL, on loan from the English Premier League club Chelsea F.C..
Club career
Pašalić started training football at the low-tier GOŠK (KG), before joining the Hajduk Split's youth academy in early 2006. A youth international, he first gained wider recognition in the 2011–2012 season, scoring 17 goals for the U-17 team, despite being a midfielder and, in the last match of the season, scoring the winning goal for the U-19 team in a 3–2 match vs. Hrvatski Dragovoljac, in the 90th minute, which secured their championship trophy. During the pre-season, however, he was diagnosed with a Staphylococcus infection, because of which he was forced to miss the first half of the 2012–2013 season.[1] He recuperated, however, and made his first team league debut on 14 April 2013 in a match vs. HNK Cibalia, when he entered for Ivan Vuković in the 90th minute. In September 2013, Pašalić has scored two goals in a derby against Dinamo Zagreb (twice from a corner kicks sent from Haris Bukva)
Chelsea F.C.
On 30.1.2014 it was confirmed that he would join Chelsea for a fee of £2 million, however, he will stay at Hajduk on loan until summer.[2]
