Proterorhinus marmoratus, the tubenose goby, is a species of goby native to brackish water parts of the Black Sea and Sea of Azov, near the coasts of Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, and Ukraine. This species can reach a length of 11.5 centimetres (4.5 in) TL. It can also be found in the aquarium trade.[2]

Formerly this species was considered as only representative of the genus Proterorhinus, but it was recognized as comprising several cryptic species based on the molecular analysis.[3] Now P. marmoratus is applicable only to marine and brackish water populations of the Black Sea basin. Freshwater population are now referable to the Western tubenose goby (P. semilunaris).
