Maria Konnikova

Maria Konnikova is a Russian-American writer and journalist, living in New York City.[1] She writes mainly about psychology and literature and is working on a novel.[2]

Personal life

Konnikova was born in Moscow, Russia. She came to the United States when she was four years old. She graduated from Harvard University, where she studied psychology and creative writing.[2] As of 2013 she is a doctoral candidate in Psychology at Columbia University, where she studies the science behind self-control.[3]

Career

Konnikova wrote the "Literally Psyched" blog[4] for Scientific American and formerly wrote the psychology blog "Artful Choice"[5] for Big Think. Her first book, Mastermind: How to Think Like Sherlock Holmes was published by Viking in January 2013 and was a New York Times bestseller and also has been translated into 16 languages.[6] Her writing has appeared in publications that include The Atlantic, The New York Times, Slate, The Paris Review, The New Republic, The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, and Scientific American MIND.[7]
