Margareta Pâslaru or Pîslaru (Romanian pronunciation: [marɡaˈreta pɨsˈlaru]; b. July 9, 1943, Bucharest) is a Romanian singer, actress, composer, lyricist, TV producer, and artistic director. The multifaceted artist celebrated 50 years from her 1958 debut, at The Romanian Union of Composers in Bucharest 2008. Married to George Sencovici until his death, they have a daughter, Ana Maria, and a grandson, Luca. The family has lived and worked in the United States since 1983 (at present Margareta is spending her time between Manhattan and Bucharest).

As a multi-talented artist, within her lifetime, she had studied piano, ballet, and painting. Albeit sung in Romanian, the style of her reperoire is very similar to the light pop music of the 1960s as well as singers from that era such as Barbra Streisand and Petula Clark. She has collaborated over the years with many first-class musicians, among them Radu Goldis.[1] She also consented the use of two songs from her repertoire for the 2005 international prize-winning Romanian film The Death of Mr. Lazarescu: "Cum e oare" (Telling It Like It Really Is) and "Chemarea marii" (The Waves of the Ocean).

She has been a resident of Summit, New Jersey.[2]
