Margareta Arvidsson, born in Gothenburg, Sweden, on August 12, 1947, was 18 years old when she was crowned as the 1966 Miss Universe (not 21 years old, as erroneously reported by bad sources).[1] She represented Vänersborg in the 1966 Miss Sweden Pageant. [2] She was the second Swedish beauty to win the crown, 11 years after Hillevi Rombin.[3]

Margareta also won the Miss Photogenic title at the 15th Annual Miss Universe Pageant which was held in Miami Beach, Florida, culminating with her crowing on July 16, 1966.[4]

After her reign as Miss Universe, Margareta became a fashion model for the Ford Modeling Agency and had great success as an international model.[5] Margareta also appeared on stage and in films.[6] She was married for 9 years to the late Brazilian photographer, Otto Stupakoff, with whom she had two children.[7]

In March 1999, Margareta Arvidsson was a guest of honor at the 50th Anniversary of the Miss Sweden Pageant.[8]
