Marfio "The Warrior Tiger" Canoletti (born July 12, 1978) a Brazilian middleweight Muay Thai kickboxer, one of the most successful Brazilian kickboxers of all time. He is a three-time WKN Muay Thai Brazilian Champion and K-1 Brazil MAX GP 2002 Champion.
Biography and career
In 2002 as the reigning World Kickboxing Network (W.K.N.) Brazilian Muay Thai champion, Marfio was selected as one of the fighters to participate in the K-1 World MAX 2002 Preliminary Brazil held in São Paulo. Marfio burst onto the K-1 scene by defeating his three opponents thus earning his place at the following years K-1 World MAX 2003. At the tournament finals Marfio faced Lumpinee champion Sakeddaw Kiatputon but was unable to pass the quarter final stage, losing by unanimous decision. Earlier that year he had retained his W.K.N. Brazilian title by stopping his opponent at the K-1 World Grand Prix 2003 Preliminary Brazil.
Marfio would have more opportunities to qualify for the K-1 World MAX final but would come up short - losing to Shamil Gaidarbekov in 2004 and Andy Souwer in 2005. In 2006 he entered the world of Shoot Boxing at the Shoot Boxing World Tournament 2006 but would be unable to progress past the quarter finals - losing in a rematch to Souwer. From 2006 onwards his form has been patchy - a good win against Jordan Tai at Ichigeki Bulgaria being followed by a series of defeats at Muay Thai events in Brazil.
