Marel

Marel hf (OMX: MARL) is an Icelandic company that provides equipment, systems and services to the food processing industry.[1]

Marel focuses on poultry, fish, meat and further processing.[2] The company has worked on technological improvements to the provision of fish fillets.[3][4] In 2012, Marel won a EuroTier Gold Award for its contribution to environmental conservation and product safety in poultry processing.[5][6] In 2013, the Company was named supplier of the year by the American Meat Institute.[7]

Marel was founded on March 17, 1983 and is headquartered in Gardabaer, Iceland. The company's brands include Marel, Stork Poultry Processing and Townsend Further Processing.[8]

In 2007, Marel changed its corporate identity to Marel Food Systems.[9] However, in 2010, after its integration with Stork Food Systems was completed, the name was changed back to Marel.[10]

At the end of 2012, it had 4,069 employees and annual revenues of €714 million.[11]
