Marcy-Holmes is the first neighborhood of Minneapolis. It is named for William L. Marcy and Oliver Wendell Holmes. Its boundaries are the Mississippi River, the University of Minnesota, the East Hennepin/Central Avenue commercial area, and the Como Neighborhood. It is home to the famous commercial district Dinkytown and also contains University of Minnesota student housing. Marcy-Holmes is entirely within Minneapolis's Ward 3, currently represented by Jacob Frey on the Minneapolis City Council.

  • Marcy Open School, located in the neighborhood, is the namesake for the band Marcy Playground, which the band's lead singer attended.
