Marco Biagi (born 31 July 1982) is a Scottish politician, serving as the SNP MSP for Edinburgh Central.
Biagi was raised in Dunbartonshire. He studied at the University of St Andrews where he was awarded a First. He was also elected as a Vice-President of the Students' Association[2] and in 2002 managed the unsuccessful campaign of Germaine Greer for election to the post of Rector.[3] He subsequently began a DPhil at Wadham College, Oxford University, but decided not to continue and returned to Scotland where he completed a Masters degree at Glasgow University and worked at the Scottish Parliament.[4]
Biagi contested the seat of Edinburgh Central in the Scottish Parliament general election, 2011, and defeated the Labour incumbent Sarah Boyack by a narrow margin of 237 votes.[5] He is understood to be the youngest person to have won election to the Scottish Parliament in a constituency seat.[4]
He is openly gay.[6]
