Marcelo José Oliveira (born 5 September 1981 in Santa Rita do Sapucaí), commonly known as Marcelo Oliveira, is a Brazilian football defender who plays for APOEL in the Cypriot First Division.

Club career

Oliveira started his career at Brazil, where he played for Corinthians[1] and Grêmio. In 2006, he moved to the Greek club Atromitos and he stayed at the club for five seasons.

On 9 June 2011, he signed a two-years contract with the Cypriot club APOEL. In his first season at the club, he won the Cypriot Super Cup and he appeared in eight 2011–12 UEFA Champions League matches for APOEL, in the club's surprising run to the quarter-finals of the competition. He became a champion for the first time in his career after winning the 2012–13 Cypriot First Division with APOEL.
