Manthani is a village and Mandal headquarters in Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.[1]
It is located approximately 70 kilometers southwest from Karimnagar. It is situated on the banks of the river Godavari. It is a very ancient center of Vedic learning, and even today houses many scholars well versed in the ancient knowledge of the Vedas and Shastras.
Manthani (from Sanskrit Mantra Kutam or the House of Vedas) is popularly believed to house a thousand Brahmin families or Sahasra Brahmana Gadapa. In reverence, local scholars refer to Manthani as Mantrapuri (the town of hymns).

Bus Services
Manthani is located Approximately 70 km from the district Head quarters Karimnagar and 240 km from Hyderabad, the capital of Andhra Pradesh state. Direct bus services of APSRTC are available from Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Godavarikhani, Mancherial, Kaleswaram, Jagtial, Korutla, Nizamabad. An APSRTC depot is located at Manthani.
Major bus routes
- Buses from Godavarikhani depot on the way to Guntur and Vijayawada pass through Manthani.
- A bus from Manthani Depot runs between Manthani and Nagpur. The route is Godavarikhani, Mancherial, Asifabad in Andhra Pradesh and Chandrapur in Maharashtra.
Train Services
Manthani has no train services to date. Late Speaker of Andhra Pradesh Mr.Sreepada Rao Duddilla, MLA, Manthani, made efforts to extend the proposed Peddapalli (IR Code:PDPL) - Nizamabad Railway line to Manthani, his assassination has put this proposal on the back burner.

- Another railway station is Ramagundam Station, which is at a distance of about 40 km. From there Manthani can be reached via Godavarikhani by bus.
Air Services
The nearest air port is Hyderabad which is about 250 km. The proposed Greenfield Airport at Ramagundam is under process.

Among several temples situated here, the most important are those of Lord Sileshwara & Siddheshwara, Laxminarayana Swamy, Omkeshwara Swamy, Mahalaxmi, Gouthameshwaralaya.12 Hanuman Temples. It is also an important centre for Jainism & Buddhism.
