Mansfield is a commuter rail station on the MBTA's Providence/Stoughton Line located in Mansfield, Massachusetts. The station was rebuilt in 2004, and is the second replacement station for Mansfield.[2] It is also the south end of a former Old Colony Railroad line that runs north through Walpole and Medfield Junction into Framingham. A portion of this line is used for commuters heading to the Foxboro station at Gillette Stadium.
Mansfield Station is accessible through some one-way streets surrounding North Main Street north of Chauncy Street (MA 106). Northbound traffic on North Main Street veers onto Oakland Street, which requires a u-turn onto Mansfield Avenue, which runs parallel to the tracks then crosses over Main Street on its way to the station. Southbound traffic from North Main Street can enter the station by turning right onto Pratt Street and making a left on Mansfiled Avenue. Access from the station back onto Main Street in either direction is available from Crocker Street.[3]
Parking for Mansfield residents is available along Mansfield Avenue and on the north and south sides of Chauncy Street, on the west side of the tracks. Parking is also available at the station itself.
The station has the highest ridership on the commuter rail system, with over 3700 inbound riders daily - a number 50% greater than any other station on the system.[1]
