Mangaldoi (Pron:ˈmæŋgəlˌdɔɪ) (also spelt as Mangaldai) is the middle locate city of Assam. It is a city of Darrang district in the Indian state of Assam. It was named after "Mangaldahi" who was the daughter of the [Raja] of Darrang and who was married to the Ahom King [Pratap Singha].
Mangaldoi is the headquarters of the Darrang district. Its population ranges between 20000-50000 according to 2011 census.
It is an important trading centre for all agricultural products.
Geography
Mangaldoi is located at 26°26′N 92°02′E / 26.43°N 92.03°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 34 m (112 ft).
It is situated at the north bank of Brahmaputra river. The town is at 65 km away from Guwahati. Its total area is 5 km2.
