Mamluk dynasty

There have been a number of Mamluk Dynasties in the History of Islam, from 1211 to 1914.

The distinct dynasties were located in South Asian Indian subcontinent, Western Asia, and North Africa.

South Asia

Indian subcontinent

• The Mamluk Sultanate of Delhi — ruled Northern India, and sections of Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh (1211 − 1290).

Western Asia

Mesopotamia

• The Mamluk dynasty of Iraq — ruled in Mesopotamia (1704 − 1832).

North Africa & Western Asia

Egypt

• The Mamluk Sultanate of Egypt had 2 successive dynasties ruling Egypt, and the Near East and North Africa.

• Bahri dynasty (1250 − 1382).
• Burgi dynasty (1382 − 1517).

• Mamluk dynastic rule continued in Egypt within the first half of Ottoman Empire (1517 − 1914), ruling for that period.

• Egypt Eyalet (1517 − 1798) — semi-autonomous Mamluk dynasty rulers, under direct rule of the Ottoman Empire.

Post—Mamluk rule

• French occupation — ruled by Napoleon I (1798 − 1801)
• Egypt Eyalet resumption (1805 − 1867) under the Albanian Muhammad Ali Pasha dynasty (1805 − 1953)
• Khedivate of Egypt (1867 − 1914) under the Muhammad Ali Pasha dynasty — an autonomous tributary state and de jure Ottoman province of the Ottoman Empire.
