Malwa, Punjab

Malwa (Punjabi: ਮਾਲਵਾ) is a region of India in the south-east of the state of Punjab and parts of Haryana between the Sutlej and Yamuna rivers (approx 30°30′N 76°00′E / 30.5°N 76°E / 30.5; 76Coordinates: 30°30′N 76°00′E / 30.5°N 76°E / 30.5; 76 ). It makes up the majority of the Punjab region, consisting of historical princely districts of the Punjab - Firozpur, Patiala, Nabha, Faridkot and Ludhiana. The people of the region are called Malwais, and the dialect of Punjabi spoken is called Malwai.

Legend

When Guru Gobind Singh Ji visited Damdama Sahib this region was barren. Guru Ji blessed Malwa by saying that "See beautiful river is flowing, mangoes are ripen and quality wheat is standing.
