Malesia, Macedonia

Malesia (Малеcија - Malesija, also Струшка Малесија - Struška Malesija) is a small region in the Upper Struga municipality, in western Republic of Macedonia, at the Golema Reka-river. It is inhabited by Orthodox Christians, as opposed to the settlements to the south, which are Albanian. Burinec and Selce formerly was part of the Debar župa. The Karaorman mountain is situated to the east of Ržanovo.

It contains these villages:

  • Prisovjani (Присовјани)
  • Brčevo (Брчево)
  • Ržanovo (Ржаново)
  • Globočica (Глобочица)
  • Zbaždi (Збажди)
  • Lokov (Локов)
  • Selce (Селцe)
  • Burinec (Буринец)

This part of Macedonia represents one of the most beautiful parts, with a lot of forests and wild life.
