Malón is an thrash and groove metal band from Argentine, that was formed in 1995 by Claudio O'Connor, Antonio Romano, Claudio Strunz (that was Hermética members) and Karlos Cuadrado.

Biography

Various internal conflicts that led to the dissolution of Hermética in late of 1994.[1] Claudio O'Connor, Antonio Romano and Claudio Strunz created Malón, with the bass player Carlos Kuadrado. They made their first concert in Cemento. Meanwhile, another band formed by Ricardo Iorio, Almafuerte, the fourth member of Hermética, who has a sharp rivalry with Malón.[2]

In 1995 they released their first studio album, Espíritu combativo ("Combative Spirit"). After, they release of their second album, Justicia o resistencia ("Justice or Resistance"), a year later. In 1997, they released their first live album, Resistencia viva ("'Live Resistance'").[3]

In 1998 Claudio O'Connor decides to form a side project to Malon, O'Connor (band), which soon becomes the principal project. Consequently, Malon is disarmed that year.[3]

In late 2001, Antonio Romano, Claudio Strunz and Karlos Cuadrado decided to meet, and Eduardo Ezcurra was summoned to be the main voice. They released a new album, EP. Ezcurra was chosen for having a voice record very similar to O'Connor.[3]

After a while, Strunz decides to leave the group, taking the naming rights to the band. The remaining members formed the band Razones Concientes.

Return

In 2011, O'Connor and Romano announced openly their return to scene.[3][4] Their first official return concert was 18 December 2011 in Arena Malvinas Argentinas, Buenos Aires. The same was filmed especially for the release of their first concert video in the DVD album El regreso más esperado ("The most expected return"). Still, Malon before had given an unofficial return concert, as opening act for Megadeth.[5] They also did a national and international tour, which included Arena Queens, New York.[6] 2013 is expected to launch its next studio album.
