Majri is well known as New Majri Colliery a village located in Chandrapur district in the state of Maharashtra, India.

Majority of the population hails from Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and other northern parts of India and they are mainly employed in coal mines located nearby in the region. Ninety nine percent of the job holders are working in Western Coalfield Ltd (WCL). The village is well provided by the facilities such as transportation, educational institutions (schools in four mediums Telugu, English, Hindi and Marathi], area hospital, playing cricket ground, sports club, park, post office, temples, residential quarters for the employees by the Western Coalfield Ltd. and Maharastra State Government.

The town is located on the banks of Wardha River, which is a major source for agriculture and drinking water. Apart from this, the village is surrounded by Sirna River and many of open cast and underground coal mines of Wardha Valley Coalfield.
