Majestic is a Namma Metro station, currently under construction[2] in Bangalore, India. It will consist of two levels - one at grade and the other underground. It will be at the intersection of the east-west and north-south metro rail routes where passengers will be able to transfer between the Purple Line and the Green Line.
The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) plans to build India’s first inter-modal transport hub within one year. The final bids for the 1,500 crore project which was initiated two years back will happen by the end of December 2011. The inter-modal transit centre would link the bus terminus with the Namma Metro, and to long distance bus terminus and also to the railway station.[3]
Structure
The work for this station was awarded to Coastal-GYT Joint Venture at a cost of 272 crore. [4] The station is expected to be completed in 2014.
The station has 2 level underground stations, the east-west corridor will be 12 metres below ground level, while the north-south line will be 20 metres below ground level. Five entrances planned for the station — two from Shantala Theatre side (including a subway), two from the existing KSRTC side and one from Dhanavantari Road. The Majestic underground interchange station can be easily accessed by people traveling in KSRTC, BMTC or the Indian Railways, which are all located very close to the station. BMRCL used 20.23 acres of land for the job and once the civil works were completed it retained only 7 acres (which includes the metro interchange station) and the remaining land was handed over to KSRTC.[5]
