"Maiden Tower" – is the first Azerbaijani ballet[1] and the first ballet in the Muslim East.[2][3] It consists of three acts with a prologue and epilogue. Afrasiyab Badalbeyli is the author of music and libretto to the ballet.[1]

A premiere of the ballet was held on April 18, 1940 on the stage of Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater.

A new edition of the ballet was held on October 24, 1999. Yulana Alikishizade was the author of new version. Madina Aliyeva and Gulaghasi Mirzoyev acted the main parts. Farhad Badalbeyli was the author of new musical edition of the ballet. Membership of Azerbaijan State Song and Dance Ensemble under the guidance of Afag Malikova also participated in the ballet.
