Maghar is a town and a nagar panchayat in Sant Kabir Nagar district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
Kabir, the 15th Century mystic poet, is buried in Maghar.
Geography
Maghar is located at 26°46′N 83°08′E / 26.76°N 83.13°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 68 metres (223 feet).
Demographics
As of 2001 India census,[2] Maghar had a population of 15,834. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Maghar has an average literacy rate of 55%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 63%, and female literacy is 47%. In Maghar, 19% of the population is under 6 years of age.
