Maersk Air UK Ltd was one of two airlines formed by the demerger of Brymon European Airways (the other was Brymon Airways) It had been formed from the merger of Birmingham European Airways and Brymon Airways. It was owned by Maersk Air of Denmark and was based at Birmingham Airport (BHX). In June 2003 the owners sold the company to a management team who renamed it Duo Airways. For the duration of its existence the airline operated as a British Airways franchise from Birmingham, flying a number of European routes, including to Amsterdam, and domestic routes to Newcastle and Belfast.
They had a secondary based in Plymouth which operated a number of DCH Dash7 and Dash8 aircraft.
Fleet
The initial fleet consisted of a number of ex-British Airways 1-11 400’s GAVGP/GAWBL/GBBME/GBBMG 500’s GAWYR/GAWYS/GAWMV J31’s GWMCC/GOBEA/GCBEA)
Then introduced 737-500’s, Jetstream 41, CRJ-200 and finally CRJ-700.

All types operated as BA, with duo inheriting only CRJ200 and 700 types.
(700’s GDUOA-E 200’s GDUOF-H) that operated on the Newcastle route. The parent airline facilitated fleet replenishment when the 1-11s were found to be beyond noise-compliance upgrading and Boeing 737-500's joined the fleet for a time. At the time of sale in 2003, Maersk Air Uk was a Bombardier Bombardier CRJ100/200 and 700 series operator. Maersk Air UK are the only British Airways franchise carrier to ever operated any Bombardier aircraft.
