Cast

Production

Initially it was announced that Samantha Ruth Prabhu will do this movie .[5] Hansika Motwani was approached to play the lead female role but could not sign the film due to unavailability of dates.[6] Later Karthika Nair was roped in to essay the character of the love interest of Vishal, who was said to be playing a triple role for the first time in his career.[7] In a turn of events, Karthika opted out of the project citing that the script had undergone major changes and revealed that Vishal would only play a single role, as well as there being an addition of an extra lead actress. Anjali replaced her in the film, and soon after the makers announced that Taapsee Pannu was approached to play one of the two lead female roles.[8][9][10][11]

Sadha shot for an item number in the film, while Prakash Raj and Nithin Sathya were signed on in supporting roles.[12] Taapsee has opted out of the film and was replaced by Varalakshmi Sarathkumar.[13][14] Sonu Sood plays a leading industrialist who wants to step into politics to taste power.[15] Arya is likely to do a cameo in this film.[16]

Release

The film's theatrical trailer released along with Podaa Podi in theaters and earned mostly positive response from audience. It was planned for a 2013 Pongal release but it has been postponed to Tamil Puthandu due to Vishal's other film Samar's release on the same date.[citation needed] The film will be released on 6 September 2013(But some problem the release of the movie is postponted), along with its Telugu-dubbed version NTR (Nataraja Thaney Raja).[17] Sundar C’s ‘Madha Gaja Raja’ has been confirmed. The movie has been lying in the cans for a long time and finally the production house has decided to release the movie on September 6th.[18] In August 2013, the film's tagline "MGR" was removed, in order to avoid controversies.[19] The movie will be released in 800+ screens all over the world.[20] As per TV promo, the release date has been changed indefinitely due to Gemini's unknown issue with the film's lead actor Vishal. Since the actor has moved on to his other movies, he shows lack of interest in releasing the movie, since the movie was under the cans for more than a year. The film remains unreleased due to financial problems faced by Gemini film circuit.
