Lyles Middle School is a public middle school located in Garland, Texas (USA). Lyles Middle School enrolls students in grades 6-8 and is a part of the Garland Independent School District.

Lyles Middle School was named a 1992-93 National Blue Ribbon School. [7]

In 2009, the school was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency.[8]

Statistics (per 2006)

The attendance rate for students at the school is 95%, compared with a state average of 96%. 60% of the students at Lyles are economically disadvantaged, 16% enroll in special education, 1% enroll in gifted and talent programs, and 10% are considered "limited English proficient."[4]

The ethnic makeup of the school is 41% African American, 30% Hispanic, 23% White, non-Hispanic, 6% Asian/Pacific Islander, and less than 1% Native American.[4]

The average class sizes at Lyles are 18 students for English, 13 for foreign language, 18 for math, 21 for science, and 21 for social studies.[4]

Teachers at the school carry, on average, 4 years of teaching experience and 40% of the teachers on staff are first-year teachers.[4]
