Lux Capital is a venture capital firm founded by Peter Hébert, Robert Paull, and Josh Wolfe[1] in 2000[2] . The firm invests in emerging technologies in the physical and life sciences.[3][4]

The firm is based in New York, with partners also located in Palo Alto and San Diego. The Lux Capital team has built more than 20 companies from scratch.[3]

Lux's principals have been interested in developing improved methods for the treatment or remediation of nuclear waste, to assist the nuclear power industry.[3]

Lux Capital's portfolio companies include Accelergy,[5] Cambrios, Cerulean Pharma,[4] Crystal IS, Everspin,[2] Genocea Biosciences,[2][4] GridCo, Kala Pharmaceuticals,[4] Kereos, Kurion, Kymeta, Lux Research, Luxtera,[3] Magen Biosciences, Molecular Imprints, Nanosys, Visterra,[6] QD Soleil, SiBEAM, Shapeways, Silicon Clocks, Siluria Technologies, and Transphorm.[7]

In April 2011, former McKinsey Senior Partner Richard N. Foster and former CIA Director James Woolsey joined Lux Capital as venture partners.[8]

In August 2012, form Pfizer Chairman and CEO Jeff Kindler joined Lux Capital as a venture partner.[9]

With offices in New York and Palo Alto, California, Lux manages about $350 million in assets.[10]
