Lumière Place is a St. Louis, Missouri casino and hotel resort owned and operated by Pinnacle Entertainment.
History
Located in historic downtown St. Louis, Lumière Place opened on December 19, 2007.[1] The resort overlooks the Mississippi River and sits less than one mile from the St. Louis Arch.[2] Lumière Place houses two hotels, HoteLumière and the only Missouri hotel to receive the AAA Five Diamond Award, Four Seasons-St. Louis[3]
Lumière Place won the Readers' Choice award for "Best Casino" in the 2010 Riverfront Times Best of St. Louis awards.[4]
In August 2013, Pinnacle agreed to sell Lumière Place to Tropicana Entertainment for $260 million. The property cost around $500 million to build in 2007.[5] The company had been required to sell the property as part of the settlement of an antitrust lawsuit by the Federal Trade Commission to block Pinnacle's acquisition of Ameristar Casinos; the combined company owned three of the six casinos in the St. Louis market.[6]
Facility
The 75,000 square feet (7,000 m2) Lumière Place casino floor features approximately 2,000 slots, 55 tables and a 13-table poker room.
HoteLumière has 294 all-suite guest rooms and the 19 story Four Seasons St. Louis has 200 rooms, including 14 suites.[7]
The property also features the 450 seat Lumière Theatre for live entertainment. Since its debut in 2008, Lumière Theatre has played host to the Go-Go’s, Joan Rivers, Legends in Concert, Thunder from Down Under, Louie Anderson, the Rat Pack, WBF Championship Boxing, Mixed martial arts fights [8] and even the taping of an episode of TLC’s “Cake Boss” where Buddy Valastro unveiled a 700-pound cake featuring Lumière Place and other St. Louis landmarks.[9]
Restaurants
Lumière Place has five restaurants, including one from renowned Master Chef Hubert Keller, star of Top Chef Masters on the Bravo Network:[10]
- Stadium Sports Bar and Grill
- The Kitchen Buffet and Bistro
- Asia
- Peet's Coffee and Tea
The resort was designed by Marnell Corrao Associates, the Las Vegas-based architectural firm that also built the Bellagio (hotel and casino).[11]
